The Scame splashproof connectors also feature a convenient ribbed finger tab on the outside of the lid enabling single hand opening. A domed cable gland at the rear of the splashproof connector provides external cable clamping and additional support. The first number refers to protection from solid matter, the second number for protection against liquids. The higher the number the better the protection.

16A sockets have an additional safety feature. A shutter closes at the front of the socket contact tubes when the socket is not in use. This prevents accidental contact of live parts with slim foreign objects like screwdrivers and wires reducing the chance of electric shock.
