The Vishay Proximity Sensor integrates with high power VCSEL in a compact package. It combines photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog to digital conversion circuits into a single chip using a CMOS process. The sensor features programmable interrupt functionality with high and low thresholds for efficient resource and power management on the microcontroller. With only 20 mA of pulse current, it can detect a Kodak Gray Card at a distance of 20 cm, while other sensors typically require 200 mA. This makes it highly power efficient, ideal for portable or battery operated applications.
