RS PRO PLA Tough 3D Printer Filament
Introducing the range of PLA Tough 3D Printer Filaments from RS PRO, one of the most popular and easy-to-use 3D printing filament materials available on the market. PLA filament (polylactic acid) is made from starch, which is odourless, making it ideal for use in domestic or closed-off environments with little ventilation. This filament offers high impact and stiffness making it ideal for more industrial applications, while also ensuring it is easy to print with various print temperatures, which in the process ensuring high-performance printing and a high quality overall finished print. Suitable for use in a wide range of applications, but especially useful in domestic, education, or office environments, thanks to the easy-to-use nature of the PLA material.
Features and Benefits:
- The range of RS PRO PLA Tough filaments are easy to use, offering reliable performance and good surface quality for final prints, making it the ultimate 3D printing filament for no-hassle printing applications
- The filament ensures easy printing across a range of temperatures, which means common problems like poor filament output that could affect the overall printed quality of the final product, are eliminated, ensuring the creation of high quality and high-resolution printed parts
- PLA 3D printing material is one of the least expensive printing filaments making it cost-effective.
- Its a great alternative to ABS plastic with the same high strength properties, is non-toxic and offers minimal deformation, making it ideal for beginners or for use in domestic, education and office environments
Technical Features:
- Filament Diameter: 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm
- Compatible with most dual printing desktop FDM or FFF technology 3D printers
- All 3D printing materials are supplied in a 500 g or 1 kg package
- Printing temperature: +210°C±10°C
- Available in a range of colours
Applications:
3D printing materials or filaments are very versatile products that can create an infinite possibility of outcomes and final prints. There are various materials and colours on the market that can be used depending on the preferred end product in mind, and thanks to this innovative and creative 3D printing technology, 3D printers have enabled an exciting stream of high-resolution 3D prints that can create architectural visualisation models, household tools, functional prototypes and so much more. 3D printing and 3D printing filaments are most commonly used in applications like:
- General printing and Hobbyist
- Medical and Education
- Prototyping and Jewellery
- Architecture models and Engineering
- Aviation and Automotive
What is PLA?
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a biodegradable plastic made from renewable natural resources and one of the most popular materials for 3D printing. Plastics such as PLA are the most popular 3D printing material due to its simplicity, dimensional accuracy and low cost. This type of material can offer high tensile strength and impact-resistant properties, making it an excellent choice for 3D printing applications. In addition to this, PLA filament can be printed at a low temperature and does not require a heated bed and is one of the most environmentally friendly filaments available.
PLA is a tough, easy to use high-grade PLA type of filament, ideal for 3D printing. Slightly modified, the filament retains the typical features of PLA but makes it tougher and less brittle and thanks to the low shrinkage factor, this material will not deform after cooling.

Note:
- It is important to ensure that the filament is stored correctly to maintain its quality. Over prolonged periods of time, the plastic absorbs moisture from the air which in turn creates small water bubbles in the filament. When heated in the extruder nozzle, these bubbles quickly reach boiling point and impact the fluidity of the filament which then impacts the overall printing result. The use of desiccant dehumidifiers to absorb moisture is highly recommended.
- Keep material sealed until ready for use
- To maintain the product quality, we recommend removing the filament from your printer if not used for more than a few hours and store unused material in the provided resealable bag in a cool dark place
- Store in a cool and dry place (15 ˚C -25 ˚C) and away from UV light, enhances the shelf life significantly
