RS Components partners with FutureWard to nurture

A joint collaboration to launch a brick & mortar RS Shop that accelerate the innovations of next generation makers for a high-tech economy future

Taiwan, 12 December 2015:

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, kicked-off the launch of the RS Shop in Taiwan’s Tatung University with FutureWard, Taiwan’s innovation and entrepreneurship makerspace and coworking space. Through the RS Shop, RS and FutureWard will build a strong foundation for the seed of entrepreneurship and innovation to proliferate in Tatung University’s campus.

“From Kickstarter projects to incubator programmes, we notice there is a great pool of engineering talent in Taiwan. With the RS Shop, we hope to play our part in supporting the growth of Taiwanese developers and the maker community. We believe that the partnership will bring forth a technopreneur culture in the younger generation,” said Mr Eric Lee, Head of Regional Technical Marketing, Asia Pacific of RS Components.

“Innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, these three elements go hand in hand. We strongly believe in giving budding makers a hands-on experience, and inspire them to design and prototype their ideas in a conducive environment. With the help of RS Shop, we also hope that one day makers can showcase their projects, and make them commercially available,” added Mr Daniel Lin, Founder of FutureWard.

The three-year partnership will see FutureWard staff operating the RS Shop in its electronics lab space, located inside the Tatung University. Apart from the brick and mortar presence that will provide greater convenience and value for young makers, FutureWard will also lead projects and workshops with the support of RS products and DesignSpark software suite to promote greater innovation and progress in the makers’ community.
