Type J Thermocouple, Welded Tip

Our RS Pro Type J Thermocouples is a device which measures temperatures, it’s made up from two wires which are different materials. When these two wires are joined together, they create an electrical junction. Once the temperature changes at this junction, it created a voltage which can then be interpreted and read as a temperature. This is commonly known as the “Seebeck Effect”.

Features & Benefits

• Thermocouples are the perfect solution and ideal tool to measure temperature, they are robust, affordable and reliable • A very fast response with a welded exposed junction
• Made up from a 2 meter long glass fibre insulated flat pair cable
• Useful colour coded tail wires
• Great temperature resistance, but not suitable for fluids
• Three year warranty
• Features a non-oxidising hot junction tip & has a temperature range of -50 to +400°C

Typical Applications

• Thermocouples are present and used in many industrial, scientific and OEM applications. This is because they are ideal for testing and development. They are used in nearly all industrial markets too, such as power generation (boiler/heating sensors), oil & gas (oven safety features), pharmaceuticals (hospital thermostats) amongst many more. • They can be found in most every day appliances such as stoves, toasters & furnaces.

• Thermocouples, bayonet adaptors, compensating & extension cables alongside connectors are being phased out, as they are being replaced with a new colour code standard. – BS4937 Part 30 1993 (IEC 584-3 1989 modified for international use)
• System calibration is available on selected probes and includes the full charge of the instrument and probe.

Tolerance is in accordance with IEC 584 class 2 & colour coded to former British Standards – BS1843-1952

Old Colour Code, BS1843

Thermocouples, bayonet adaptors, compensating and extension cables and connectors.,These BS1843 products are being phased out, having been replaced with a new colour code standard BS4937 Part 30 1993 (IEC 584-3 1989 modified for international use). System Calibration is available on selected probes and includes the full charge of the instrument and probe.
