OSRAM appoints RS as exclusive catalogue distributor for ORBEOS OLED lighting panel

RS launches new range of OLEDs and LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors

Taiwan, 15 December 2009 :

RS Components, the leading distributor of electronic, electro-mechanical and industrial products, today announced the launch of the new OSRAM ORBEOS OLED (Organic LED) lighting tile. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has appointed RS to be the exclusive catalogue distributor for the ORBEOS across Europe and Asia, and the product is now available on RS websites.

At the same time, RS Components is introducing over 400 new products from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. The expanded Optoelectronics offer from RS gives electronic design engineers access to a technology-leading range of OLEDs and visible and infrared LEDs. The new LEDs are available in multiple sizes and colours, and perform with optimum efficiency at low power consumption levels in applications, helping to save energy.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is the world’s leading manufacturer of optoelectronic semiconductors for illumination, visualisation and sensing.

Commenting on the RS launch for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, Louis Lam, Vice President of APAC Sales, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, said “Orbeos is the first OLED light source available for commercial on the market. OSRAM is pleased to be furthering our partnership with RS. Fuelled by the jointly driven “OS Lightshop” (www.osram-os.com/light-shop) which provides immediate access for customers to the whole OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ product portfolio, RS service and support helps the establishment of OSRAM technologies in new applications being developed by electronic design engineers.”

Go Nakano, Head of Product Marketing for RS Asia Pacific said “RS is delighted to be selected as the preferred catalogue distributor for the ORBEOS OLED. We are committed to bring our customers the latest technologies first and this agreement gives customers immediate access to leading edge OLED technology from a market-leading manufacturer.” Nakano added “the new OSRAM product introductions mean we are able to give design engineers the best quality product range in optoelectronics, supported by competitive prices and all available direct from stock.”

The ORBEOS is a new lighting panel ideally suited for designer luminaires, decorative lighting and mood lighting. Extremely thin and flat, with very low heat dissipation, OLEDs can be embedded into most materials with ease. With an instant on/off function, plus high quality of light, this ambient light can become an integral part of objects and architecture.

The OSTAR SMT LED, one of the featured launches from the new range, is developed for applications where the highest possible power density is required, the exceptionally compact design makes the OSTAR SMT LED the perfect choice for designs where space is at a premium. With extremely high luminance and multi-chip technology, the new OSTAR SMT LED is ideal for atmospheric lighting solutions and pico projectors. As a surface mounted device, it also combines easily with secondary optics.

The OSRAM range is available online at rs-components.com/osram, complete with all the comprehensive technical information necessary to enable easy and accurate product selection. Products are held in-stock for delivery direct to customers.
